Livestock Shelter Shed Cover - Dowerin, WA

The Quartermaine family runs a 1500 head capacity cattle feedlot along with a 5800 hectare cropping program in the Dowerin district. Processing cattle with vaccinations, eartagging etc can be strenuous on both the cattle and the handlers at the best of times let alone in the harsh summer heat or driving rain. It was decided a sheltered work area was required to improve conditions to allow uninterrupted work flow in getting cattle to market. The client is a past valued customer of Wheatbelt Steel

WHEATBELT STEEL’S ANSWER

A 30m square roof structure at 5m high with galvanised steel work to prevent rusting in acidic conditions along with tapered gutters delivering rainwater to one end of the shed was designed, delivered and installed over the top of the existing animal processing equipment.

From the planning right through to the construction of our feedlot cover – the whole process ran smoothly and professionally. The new cover has substantially improved the working conditions, has reduced the stress levels of cattle and has made the handling of them easier. Wheatbelt Steel has been very good to deal with and we will definitely be doing business again in the future
