WA Men's Shed Association began about 10 years ago in the south west region. There are now more than 800 Men’s Sheds across Western Australia.
Research has shown that many men find it hard to discuss their thoughts and emotions.
The idea of the Men’s Shed was to give these men an opportunity to get involved in social activities in a safe, friendly, non-judgemental environment. They can work on valuable projects at their own pace with the company of other men.

On February 1st Community Service Minister Tony Simpson announced funding of $225,000 from The Department of of Local Government and communities and Department of Health. He said it would help the organisation continue to improve the physical and emotional health and wellbeing of men across the state.
